Hydoseeding is a blend of seed, wood fiber mulch, fertilizer and water. The slurry is mixed in a hydroseeder and sprayed through a fire hose onto your Lawn. The seeds germinate more successfully and the new seedlings thrive with the greater protection provided by the mulch.
Hydroseeding (sometimes called hydromulching) will help create a lush healthy lawn or bring life back to a yard that is past its prime. Hydroseeding is an excellent alternative to sod, more flexible and affordable than traditional sodding methods with an outstanding success rate.
Hydroseeding is a relatively new process where seeds, water, fertilizer, wood fiber mulch and a holding agent are mixed together and applied over the ground. The soft, green mat that covers yourlawn is a wood cellulose fiber that performs the following functions:
- Water Rentention: Because the wood fibers can retain up to 10 times their weight in water, the seeds are kept moist and results are a fast growing and thicker lawn.
- Soil Retention: The wood fibers mulch and holding agent (called tackifier) also help prevent waterwind and wind erosion. The seeds remain in place.
- Protection: The Hydroseed mulch protects seedlings from the scorching sun and maintains optimum soil temperature. Hydroseeding forms a unique micro-climate for the new seeds to rapidly germinateand grow.
